She didn't text back as usual. The options were to send a question mark or give her grace, assuming she was busy. I decided to give her grace without conditions. A few days went by, and a text came back: "Sorry for the late text, my father's condition got worse and they have moved him to hospice. Please pray for me and my family."
I responded that I would and prayed immediately for her to have peace in her situation.
Have you ever been in a situation where your choices are only love or hate? Which one do you often choose?
As we get older, it's undeniable that storms will come. Some we are prepared for and some that come to prepare us. Often we wear so many masks that many can't really tell when things aren’t going well. I've worn those mask, and it finally cracked after a painful loss many years ago. But this one thing helped me get out of it was unconditional love.
This is the one thing we were born with and the one thing that never runs out. We can continually give it over and over without conditions.
Let's apply the LAR framework to this Learn, Apply, and Refine.
What can we learn from this?
That everyone has situations that seem daunting, and we all need a smile and love daily.
Where can you apply this?
You can give your smile and love to everyone you meet, despite how they treat you. The one who freely gives also receives.
What might you need to refine?
Maybe your response to negativity. Don't let someone park an ugly house in your mind for free. Light always pushes back darkness. Respond with love and move on.
Love should be unconditional. It starts with love, and it should end with it as well.
