Figure it out as you go!
He went up to the board meeting for the Little League Baseball. The meeting consisted of him, the current president, and a coach. "Jim" was just trying to see how things were going to go for Little League Baseball. His son was ten at the time, and he just wanted to know how things went because this was his son's first time playing Little League Baseball. The current president started the meeting swiftly. "I'm quitting, and we need to find another president." The coach in the room looked over at "Jim" and said he would be good for the role. The current president said okay and quickly left, never to be seen again. The only problem was with "Jim's" kid and the other kids that had signed up; they only had eight.
They were forced to cancel fall ball, as "Jim" was voluntold to lead. Being that this is a volunteer job, what would you do? Would you quit, or would you commit to leaving it better than you found it? Well, that was four years ago. Since then, the league has grown from eight players to over two hundred. The board has grown to eight members, so "Jim" doesn't have to do all of it. He and his wife lead the board, and the league is only looking up.
What are some things we can learn from "Jim"?
Leaders are servants at heart. - To lead means you must serve the many without many times being acknowledged or applauded for the work you are doing.
Opportunity - Opportunity never looks like opportunity until looking back. Opportunity always starts out as seed form before the harvest.
Commitment - With commitment, anything can happen.
Remember the harvest is plenty while the labors are few!
